Lifestyle Newborn Photography
When choosing a newborn baby session with SCP, you have two choices: a STUDIO photoshooot in my Canton, CT home studio – or – a LIFESTYLE in-home photoshoot in the comfort of your own home. There are many factors to consider when deciding on which session is right for you!
First off, studio sessions are more posed with the complicated froggy and bucket shots. LIFESTYLE sessions are a bit more relaxed in family and sibling posing and typically utilize the natural light of your home as we shoot near windows or in the brightest-lit rooms of your home. If the weather allows, we’ll step outside for a few parent and family images.
Although you don’t need a very LARGE home to host your newborn session with SCP, you will want to de-clutter, make beds and have the nursery in tip-top shape as we typically shoot in the master bedroom (or whatever room has biggest windows!) as well as the nursery. Many families will skip the master bedroom if they’d prefer to have shots on their couches in the main living space. I’ll have you crank up the heat several degrees as I work with the babies, swaddling them with feet and hands peeking out throughout the session. After we finish with the sibling and family images, I’ll then spend the 2nd half of the session working with just baby alone to capture some images of just the baby using the props/furs/outfits I bring. I decide on what to bring based on what preferences you indicate on your Booking Form. Typically, these sessions are fairly neutral with lots of whites, creams, greys, pale blue & pinks and pastels.
