In-Home Lifestyle NEWBORN session NYC : 80+ floors up!

When Angie and Steven invited me to photograph their daughter’s newborn session in their NYC skyrise apartment, I didn’t realize what a TREAT I was in for! Not only are they literally the KINDEST, most beautiful people, but their new daughter Aliyah was just absolutely perfect for our session time together. This first image was truly an outtake I snapped while mom was feeding baby during a break from shooting and these quiet moments ended up being some of our favorites from the gallery 🙂

I get a LOT of requests for in-home newborn sessions. Most of my work in the newborn gallery you see on this website is done in my Connecticut studio. BUT, I do love traveling to clients’ homes and capturing more lifestyle and candid moments using natural light. While I DO bring a few simple props (and flooring) for some gorgeous, more POSED setups with your baby….. I do NOT bring my studio lighting for a full posed session together; that is reserved for studio clients coming to me here in Canton, CT.

This gallery shows you how an in-home lifestyle session can have some posed prop elements to it as well, without the use of studio lighting and all the fancy equipment and poses. Simple and sweet!!! Timeless.

In case you’re thinking, “Saren, I don’t live in a skyrise NYC apartment with views all around,” take a look at this Connecticut Home Lifestyle Newborn Session I did a while back which was showcased on the blog to show how a simple and quaint Connecticut home is also a perfect place to do a newborn session. I work around the window light in your home, typically shooting in the living room, nursery and master bedroom. 43 today. I heard the other day that the average human lives 76 years. So throw back to when I was 38 and halfway thru… actually I’m just throwing it back to this BUCKETLIST family photoshoot at the salt flats on the border of Utah and Nevada a few years ago because it was my absolute FAVORITE family shoot of all time.

Here’s to hoping I get another 43 years with this fam-bam of mine. Thanks for being a part of this trip around the sun, everyone! 😘😘😘

Beach sessions on the CT shore are gorgeous. No shoes required, flowey light wardrobe and light colors that match any room in your home when framed …. They’re simply the BEST!

Thursday is the drop of the OUTDOOR SCHEDULE to subscribers and I always book up these very limited spots. So I’m featuring all my favorite locations this weekend and this week leading up to the big Thursday drop so you can all be thinking about WHERE you’d like your family photos to be this year if you’re opting for an outdoor session.

This family went for a gorgeous formal look for their city sesh and I love how it looks with the formality of the building! This location would ALSO look fab with pale neutrals for wardrobe that tie in nicely to the white columns.
