Newborn Family Photos

Newborn Family Photos : Award-Winning Image from 80 floors up.

The Kantor family is one of my absolute FAVES.  I’ve been photographing them the last few years and every single photoshoot is a JOY and an HONOR.  Angie has become such a sweet friend to me and I couldn’t be happier for her and Steven’s beautiful family. I’ve been using this down-time (Thank you so much, #coronacation2020!) to update some things in my business and realized I hadn’t blogged this FABULOUS Lifestyle Newborn Gallery!  And now, sweet Carter & Austin are closer to their 1st birthday than this newborn stage of life!  Where does the time fly?!

A few things to note here:  The bulk of a lifestyle in-home newborn portrait session is going to be family, sibling and parent images around your home.  I do pack a few bins with some NEUTRAL JUST-BABY essentials for shooting a couple props/fabric/flokati images with sibling and just baby (ies) towards the end of the session but these aren’t going to be complicated froggy/bucket shots like a studio session – think more relaxed, swaddled images.

Typically, I spend about 3 hours in a Lifestyle Newborn Session at your home and the gallery ends up being about 100 beautiful images for you to choose from.

Also, wardrobe is up to you for these but take it from this family:  Whites are ALWAYS TIMELESS!  Hair down but pulled away from face is best on little girls and moms.  And don’t mind me as I re-arrange blankets, pillows, picture frames etc to get the perfect lighting and angles for your shots.  Lauren, my wonderful assistant, joined me for this special photoshoot as typically she will lend an assisting hand whenever we photograph multiples like Carter & Austin.  She was extremely instrumental in helping me obtain so many of these images and I’m so glad she could make the day-trip with me!  It was such a beautiful day!  Thank you, A & S, for sharing your beautiful home once again with us and allowing us to share your love as a family here to spread some smiles all over with your handsome family and beautiful NYC home.

This first image was one I submitted for the annual NAPCP image competition and it won a merit award in the newborn category.  My dad usually helps me pick out the images to submit to competitions each year but he passed away from pancreatic cancer in December when this competition was taking submissions.  SO, when I was out there to see him one last time in December, my oldest brother Shiloh and my mom both helped me choose images and they loved this one.  In January, after I was back home and everything had settled down from the travel and all the family time with the services… I received notification that I had won several awards for the images we selected together, including this one.  I think my dad was smiling down on me that day.  🙂  He is the reason why I’m any good at photography as he was a really talented photographer and videographer and carried a camera EVERYwhere he went.  When he got sick, he asked me if I wanted his camera since he could sell it for a lot of money but of course would rather give it to me to use.  I started using it daily and this very image (first image) was taken using my dad’s camera he had given me not long before this photoshoot on one of the MANY trips to Utah I was able to take during his 23-month battle with cancer.  To see more of the winning images from the last NAPCP Image Competition: click HERE.
