Why Professional Hair & Makeup Makes a Difference – guest-blogger Lauren Caruso from Strand Salon in Glastonbury

Hi everyone!

Tonight I have a special co-blogger, Lauren Caruso from Strand Salon in Glastonbury.  She is TRULY one of those people in life who is doing EXACTLY what she was meant to do – Professional Makeup Application and Hair.  It is SO evident when you meet her that her passion, enthusiasm, professionalism and just pure AMAZINGNESS (is that a word?) for beautifying her clients makes her just the most perfect person to go visit before your professional photo session.

You can visit Lauren at the very cool Strand Salon in Glastonbury  – www.strandsalonct.com – or visit her personal website to see all her work and schedule an in-home session with her prior to your photoshoot – www.laurencaruso.com.

I personally love seeing her before and afters on her Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Lauren-at-Strand-Salon – check her out and show her some love, she’s amazing inside and out!

So without further adieu, I turn it over to Lauren for her tips and advice on why professional makeup for photoshoots is so important!  Here’s the DL from Lauren herself….

“Flash photography diminishes 40-50% of your face.. You need a polished professional application of makeup in order for the most radiant version of yourself to translate in your photos!  I use hd quality makeup that works with professional flash cameras.. The makeup adjusts to ambient light so that your complexion photographs consistent both indoors and outdoors – a professional application is done in a way to ensure long wear. Not only should the the makeup look flawless and make you feel beautiful but it should last at least 7 hours! I use professional long wear product as well as apply the makeup in specific steps so that the only thing you need to re-touch after you leave my chair is your lip color.”

Lauren has worked with many of my clients but most recently, Catie went to visit her right before coming in for her maternity mini session and oh my goodness, how beautiful is she?!  When you’re pregnant and carrying that beautiful baby bump, it can sometimes be hard to feel like your most beautiful self.  With a visit to Lauren, Catie not only felt and looked her most amazing self possible, but she PHOTOGRAPHED her most amazing self possible as well.  I think the results speak for themselves – enjoy

Tanya, thank you for your kind words and for trusting me with your family’s photos. I know coordinating outfits, schedules, and sandy toes isn’t always easy - so it means the world that you felt supported, seen, and cared for every step of the way.⁣

So much of this work is built on connection, and when a family finds me through Instagram and trusts me to capture something as sacred as their newborn session? It’s never lost on me.⁣

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Owen and Olivia for the kind words, the joy you brought to the studio, and the trust you placed in me. It was such an honor to photograph these first tiny moments - the little details that pass too quickly but mean everything.⁣

Feeling grateful to do what I do.⁣
